Wildlife
One of the core aims of the project is to improve the area for wildlife.
Ecological results from a range local societies reveal that a range of mammals, amphibians, butterflies and birds live in the area including:
Mammals:
- Field voles
- Foxes
- Moles
Butterflies:
- Brimstone Butterflies
- Red Admirals
- Clouded Yellow
Birds:
- Grey Herons
- Goldeneye
- Gadwell
- Great Creasted Grebe
Amphibians:
- Smooth Newts
- Frogs
The Loscoe Dam Project will assess the wildlife habitats found on the site and develop a scheme to protect and manage the current environment as well as encouraging a more diverse range of species to the area.
On site development including the installation of interpretation panels will also take place to encourage more visitors to the area and to enable people to learn about the diverse variety of wildlife on site.
